Project Title: The Amazing Race Across NC Grade: 4th Name: Faith Adamson
Project Idea: Students will create a race across NC.
Students will:
Work in groups
Research each region of NC
Choose 2 important landmarks in each region (buildings, statues, monuments, and other places that associate with our state’s history)
Use a map of NC to calculate the distance to finish their race
Driving Question: As a game show host, design a race across NC where each contestant in the race will travel through NC finding your major landmarks within each region.

4.MD.1 Know/ Convert relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm… express units in a larger unit from a smaller unit
Major Student Product: Students must make a video advertisement to share with another class that advertises their race and why they chose their landmarks. Students will include the distance of their race using the key scale and converting within the same unit. Students will also show the path their contestants must take by outlining the path on a NC map.
